Diagon Alley

Some of the props I made for the Harry Potter event were for a table dedicated to Diagon Alley. Here are some of the details and how I made them.

I had to have a Gilderoy Lockhart book somewhere (he's possibly my favourite character from the books, love how he's written and couldn't stop laughing at him). I found this image on Pinterest and printed it off. I cut a piece of cardboard to size (a few centimetres shorter) and glued the cover to it. I cut the card shorted so that I could fold the cover over it to create a seamless edge that looked more like a hardback book. I stuck another piece of card to the back so that the book would be able to stand up.

I googled the Daily Prophet and the Quibbler which gave me quite a lot of images to choose from. I chose the Daily Prophet cover based on that I had no Voldemort anywhere and he just had to be included somewhere. I found more images for each paper so i could make up a 4 page paper. I printed them off double sided and just stapled the pages together. I have to say, of all the props I made, I really love the Quibbler.

Of course Ollivanders had to be included for Diagon Alley. I made the box from black card, measured up a wand (which I will post shortly how I made my own wands). I cut out the box and glued the sides together. I printed off an Ollivanders sticker and glued it onto the top of the box.

Also included on the Diagon Alley table were catalogues from Weasley's Wizard Weezes and Borgin and Burkes which were in my Harry Potter Film Wizardry book.
