Hogwarts House Flags
Today I wanted to show you how I made the Hogwarts House flags for my Harry Potter event. It was surprisingly easy and was also cost effective (a big thing when it comes to organising any event or party!)

First job was to find some material that were in the house colours. These can easily be found in any haberdashery shop. I got 3 feet for each flag and made 12 flags all together.

I measured 5cm at the top to fold over and pin in place ready for sewing.

I started off using a sewing machine to stitch the flags but my machine wasn't good so I ended up hand sitting them instead

Next I ironed out each flag to et out all of the creases

I bought some t-shirt transfer paper (for dark material, the colours show up better once ironed on). I got the images of the house crests from Google and printed them on to the transfer paper.

I cut round the crest leaving a slight border on each one, placed it onto the fabric and lay the greaseproof paper (that came in the pack of transfer paper).

Next I ironed on the transfers, concentrating on the edges.

I let the transfer cool until it was slightly warm and peeled off the greaseproof paper.

I bought some doling rods from the hardware store and cut them down to size. I left enough on each side of the flag to tie string around for hanging.

The finished flags on the night.
